My First Mock Draft of the Year of 2014

Hey guys sorry I have not posted in a while since the Super Bowl, congrats to the Seahawks for their huge win and their first Super Bowl Championship. Now that the combine is over it is officially time for one of my favorite parts of the year draft season. It took me a while so I hope you enjoy my first mock draft.

1. Houston Texans: Teddy Bridgewater                                             QB      Louisville
The Texans have a great team. I think better then the Chiefs when they had the 1st overall pick. But they NEED a Quarterback and without a QB you can’t win. I think they should grab Bridgewater because he can make plays and is the most NFL ready QB in this draft.

2. St. Louis Rams: Greg Robinson                                                     OT       Auburn
I think they should take Watkins but I don’t believe they will. So it is down to Jake Mathews and Greg Robinson because of their need at tackle. While Jeff Fisher has a close relationship with the Mathews family Robinson is the better player and I think fisher knows it.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jadeveon Clowney                                        DE       South Carolina
Gus Bradley is a Defensive guy and he knows Clowney is a once in a lifetime Player. He knows they need a QB but Clowney may turn Bradley’s defense into one of the best in the league.

4. Cleveland Browns: Johnny Manziel                                               QB      Texas A&M
There is a lot of questions on and off the field for Manziel, but he can play. I believe he can give Cleveland a chance from day one to make plays and allow this city the chance to finally be a contender.

5. Oakland Raiders: Sammy Watkins                                                 WR      Clemson
The Raiders need a receiver more than a quarterback and who better then “the best prospect since A.J. Green”.

6. Atlanta Falcons: Anthony Barr                                                       OLB    UCLA
Clowney is not available and the Falcons need a pass rusher why not get the next biggest name in Barr.

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Khalil Mack                                             OLB    Buffalo
Lovie Smith is in the head coaching spot now and he wants to recreate that defense in Chicago. Why not have Mack headline that defense.

8. Minnesota Vikings: Blake Bortles                                                  QB      Central Florida
I personally like Derick Carr better but I am in the minority here and Bortles has the potential.

9. Buffalo Bills: Jake Mathews                                                           OT       Texas A&M
The Bills gave up the 4th most sacks in the NFL last season with 48. Jake Mathews is a gift.

10. Detroit Lions: Darqueze Dennard                                                CB       Michigan St.
The Lions have tried to find a top corner for a long time and this kid from nearby Michigan St. may be the answer.
11. Tennessee Titans: C.J. Mosley                                                      ILB     Alabama
The Titans need a face to their struggling defense and Mosley is the best available to do that.

12. New York Giants: Taylor Lewan                                                             OT       Michigan
The fastest offensive lineman at the combine. This is an athletic and tough tackle that will fit nicely with the Giants who have some needs in the trenches.

13. St. Louis Rams: Mike Evans                                                         WR      Texas A&M
Mike Evans would give the Rams a deep threat with some yards after the catch ability that will fit nicely opposite a slot receiver in Tavon Austin.

14. Chicago Bears: Timmy Jernigan                                                   DT       Florida St.
The Bears have big need at DT and this All-ACC DT fits their scheme

15. Pittsburgh Steelers: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix                                       FS        Alabama
With a combined 25 years playing in the NFL Ryan Clark and Troy Polamalu are FAR past their prime. Clinton-Dix is a good tackler from the SEC who can play hardnosed “Steeler ball”. Not to mention the coolest name I have ever seen.

16. Dallas Cowboys: Louis Nix III                                                    DT       Notre Dame
A big need at defensive tackle for the Cowboys Nix is a beast who can tear lines up.

17. Baltimore Ravens: Marqise Lee                                                    WR      USC
Now that Joe Flacco is getting paid the big bucks he needs a go to wide out. However you put it Marqise Lee is a playmaker. I have been fortunate enough to seen him live and he is a threat to score on any play.

18. New York Jets: Eric Ebron                                                           TE       North Carolina
Lets see if Geno Smith is the real deal and get him the best Tight End in this draft.

19. Miami Dolphins: Zach Martin                                                       OT       Notre Dame
I am not completely sure which one they will take but Miami must get a better offensive line in this draft because of the problems that have happened with them this past year. I don’t know much about him but from the little I have heard and seen of him he is consistent and can play at tackle or guard.

20. Arizona Cardinals: Derrick Carr                                                   QB      Fresno State
Carson Palmer is a B- Quarterback going into his 12th season and not getting any better or younger. I really like Carr and the QB Guru Bruce Arians can mold this guy into a top tier Quarterback.

21. Green Bay Packers: Aaron Donald                                               DT       Pittsburgh
I think this kid has a lot of talent. He also put up possibly the best combine this year and can be a big addition to the team with four unrestricted free agents on the D-line.

22. Philadelphia Eagles: Calvin Pryor                                     FS        Louisville
A need that Pryor can fill in this struggling secondary that allowed 4,636 yards passing this season, the most in the NFL.

23. Kansas City Chiefs: Kelvin Benjamin                                          WR      Florida St.
The best available wide out to help out Alex Smith.

24. Cincinnati Bengals: Kony Ealy                                                     DE       Missouri
If Michael Johnson does not resign with the Bengals then Kony Ealy will fill the spot quite well.

25. San Diego Chargers: Justin Gilbert                                               CB       Oklahoma St.
If Justin Gilbert makes it to pick 25 then the Chargers will be very happy. They have a gigantic need at corner having only 11 interceptions and allowing over 4,000 yards passing.

25. Cleveland Browns: Carlos Hyde                                                  RB       Ohio State
I have not seen a lot of tape on any of the running backs but all I know is Cleveland needs one so bad. Since Hyde is the top of most boards I will have the Browns take him.

27. New Orleans Saints: Jason Verrett                                               CB       TCU
With the release of Jabari Greer the Saints are in need of a replacement. He has nice speed, great in man defense and can play the run well, a good fit for the Saints

28. Carolina Panthers: Brandin Cooks                                                WR      Oregon State
He is a playmaker. Last year he was 1st in receiving yards in college football and 2nd in touchdowns and receptions. He is dynamic and opposite Steve Smith will give opponents nightmares.

29. New England Patriots: Austin Seferian-Jenkins                           TE       Washington
This draft is called help Tom Brady draft give him play makers and either Austin Seferian-Jenkins or Jace Amaro will do. But between the two of them I will pick Austin right now.

30.  San Francisco 49ers: Bradley Roby                                             CB       Ohio State
This is a great athlete with some off the field issues and inconstancies. But,  Harbaugh can take him in and get him to play like a top 10 corner.

31. Denver Broncos: Dee Ford                                                           DE       Auburn
A pass Rusher would help them and if the Senior Bowl MVP is available he can make an instant impact to a pass rush that needs more help.

32. Seattle Seahawks: David Yankey                                                 OG      Stanford
The Hawks are a pretty good team, considering they shutdown the Broncos to win the Super Bowl. But, there biggest need is at guard. Yankey can provide protection to Russell Wilson and help this team fight for a chance to repeat.

My Super Bowl Pick for the 2013 Season

Alright, the day we have all been waiting for. The biggest, most amazing day of the year, the Super Bowl. While the Bengals and the Packers aren't playing, my two picks at the beginning of the season, it’s going to be a great game. I have thought long and hard about who will win this game and I am not very confident in my pick because I really could see it going either way.  There is one thing I know for certain, in order to win each team needs a lot to go right.

How Seattle Will Win

I have said this before, I strongly believe in order to beat Peyton Manning you must hit him. If you get to Peyton Manning he will make mistakes, you HAVE to put pressure on him. If the Seahawks don’t, even the “Legion of Boom” will be picked apart by Peyton. But, when you do get pressure on him I could see Peyton Manning throwing up a couple of ducks for Richard Sherman. Another thing that must happen for Seattle to win is Russell Wilson must play well. Denver has a weak secondary that Wilson can definitely pick apart. Denver’s defense is definitely better in its front seven and if Wilson can avoid the rush I think he will find an open Golden Tate in the end zone.

How Denver Will Win

Peyton has to be Peyton. If he runs more of a West Coast Offense with quick passes mixed with Knowshon Moreno and Monte Ball I think he can beat the Seattle pass defense. If Peyton scores fast and often I do not believe that Russell Wilson can keep up with him. Wes Welker will be a big part of the offense today because Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas will be covered on the outside. So, Wes Welker has to have a good game.  Lastly the Broncos must stop the run. They have stopped Ryan Mathews and LeGarrette Blount in their last two playoff games, but this is BEASTMODE. I’m not sure how they will but to hoist that Lombardi Trophy he must be stopped at all costs.

My Pick

Now there is one thing left for me to do, I have to pick the winner. I am going with Seattle. I feel like if Seattle can take Peyton Manning out of the game or even limit him the the Broncos are a far inferior team then Seattle without Marshawn Lynch. I believe it will be a great game and am looking forward to the game. Have fun at your parties and have a great Super Bowl Sunday.
